Azure SQL Database🧿

Azure SQL Database is a fully managed platform as a service (PaaS) database engine that performs most database management operations like upgrading, patching, backups, and monitoring without the need for user intervention. Azure SQL Database always runs on the most recent stable version of the SQL Server database engine and a patched operating system, with 99.99 percent availability. The PaaS capabilities included into Azure SQL Database allow you to concentrate on the domain-specific database administration and optimization tasks that are vital to your organization.

You may use Azure SQL Database to construct a highly available and high-performance data storage layer for Azure apps and solutions. SQL Database is an excellent solution for a wide range of modern cloud applications since it supports both relational data and non-relational structures such as graphs, JSON, spatial, and XML.

Azure SQL Database is built on the most recent stable release of the Microsoft SQL Server database engine. Advanced query processing features, such as high-performance in-memory technology and intelligent query processing, are available. In fact, the most recent SQL Server capabilities are provided first to SQL Database, and then to SQL Server itself. You get the most recent SQL Server features, tested across millions of databases, with no overhead for patching or upgrading.

SQL Database allows you to simply define and scale performance across two purchasing models: vCore-based purchasing and DTU-based purchasing. SQL Database is a fully managed service with high availability, backups, and other standard maintenance functions built in. Microsoft handles all SQL and operating system patching and updates. You are not responsible for the underlying infrastructure.
