Is a VPN enough to stay anonymous online?

The other day I was talking with a friend who recently started using a VPN, and he was convinced that it made him completely anonymous online. That got me thinking because I’ve always assumed online privacy is more complicated than just turning on one tool. While reading more about mobile VPN use, I came across some useful information here: https://toggle.org/vpn-for-android. I understand that a VPN can help hide your IP address and make browsing more private, but is it really enough on its own if someone wants to stay anonymous online, or do things like cookies, account logins, browser settings, and app permissions still matter just as much?

I had the same assumption at first. I thought turning on a VPN was basically the end of the story, but later I realized that staying logged into social media accounts, accepting every cookie request, and sharing information across different apps can still create a pretty detailed picture of online activity. A VPN definitely helps with privacy, especially on public networks, but I see it as one part of a bigger approach. Good online habits still matter a lot.
