Technical Breakthrough: The Shift to AV1
Standard H.264 and even H.265 (HEVC) are reaching their limits for community-hosted CDNs. In this update, we’ve implemented full AV1 hardware decoding.
Operational Benefit: AV1 allows us to maintain 4K stream integrity while reducing bandwidth requirements by nearly 30% compared to traditional codecs.
Performance: For the end-user, this means "no-freeze" playback even on mid-range Android TV boxes or mobile devices with limited data speeds.
Scaling the Infrastructure
Beyond the codec, we’ve updated our Hybrid P2P-CDN routing. In our operational audits, we found that regional congestion was the #1 cause of user drop-off. Our new logic now dynamically reroutes traffic based on real-time node latency.
